WASHINGTON, February 21, 2020 – Networking For Future, Inc., a District of Columbia Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) and Cisco Gold Partner, today announced that the build out of the foundational infrastructure for the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) transformational and data-driven Digitization Blueprint was completed.  The $5.6 million contract was supported by funding through Mayor Muriel Bowser’s investing in education program, “DC Values in Action”.  DC Values in Action represents the largest investment ever in public education in Washington, DC.

The Digitization Blueprint serves as a strategic framework for transforming and integrating the UDC campuses by focusing on improving application performance, enabling a superior student experience, and increasing student, faculty, and staff productivity.  The goal is to make the UDC vison of being student-centered and demand driven a reality.

With a value of $5.6 million, the UDC contract covered general information technology (IT) support, telecommunications, cybersecurity, systems architecture, and engineering services.  NFF completed the foundational work on UDC’s plan to migrate to a modern, multi-cloud IT services model that incorporates emerging technology products and services.  The NFF approach targeted improving IT flexibility and optimizing the network infrastructure, while strengthening the overall security of the UDC IT environment.

Some of the performance and productivity benefits NFF delivered are:

  • Teaching and learning web conferencing and videoconferencing access for students, faculty, and staff both on-campus and online
  • Advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect online users and safeguard personal information, university resources, and intellectual property
  • Video cameras connecting to the UDC operations center for continuous monitoring of the entire campus – to protect the physical safety of students, faculty, and staff
  • A digital platform that enables rapid innovation and reduces IT staff overhead by providing performance data, configuration management, and advanced troubleshooting capabilities
  • WAN/LAN redesign and core network infrastructure upgrade for increased bandwidth, while reducing the monthly recurring cost

“We are proud to have helped UDC reshape and optimize technologies that transform their IT business solutions,” said Majid Saadat, president of NFF. “We used our market-leading expertise to help UDC strengthen its IT security environment and achieve greater flexibility through a multi-cloud network to ensure their Digitization Blueprint vision becomes a certainty.”
