WASHINGTON, December 16th, 2025 – Networking For Future, Inc. (NFF), a Mid-Atlantic–based, performance-focused IT solutions provider, announced today that it has been awarded a significant IT hardware and professional services contract to provide and install networking equipment into the entire 7000 series railcar fleet of 748 railcars as part of WMATA’s modernization efforts to current communications and video systems.
The current video infrastructure on WMATA’s 7000 series railcars lacks live look-in and remote video offloading capabilities, posing a significant safety and security risk to the Authority and its key stakeholders. Video footage is only accessible after trains are taken out of service, requiring video technicians to be dispatched to railyards for manual retrieval. This process severely hampers the Authority’s ability to conduct timely and effective criminal investigations.
NFF is partnering with Cisco and their Advanced Services team on the project, which will deliver live video look-in capabilities and real-time data access via cellular and wireless technologies. These capabilities will support critical stakeholders including Operations, Fleet Management, the Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD), the Metro Integrated Command Center (MICC), and senior executives enabling faster, more accurate decision-making and more effective incident response.
